Types Of Dry Eyes
Dry eye can affect each person differently. At Réspa – Optometry & Dry Eye Wellness Centre, we recognise that no two eyes—and no two dry eye profiles—are exactly the same. Understanding your specific type of dry eye allows us to provide personalised, optometrist-led care tailored to your needs.
Aqueous-Deficient Dry Eye
This occurs when the lacrimal glands produce less of the watery component of the tear film. Insufficient hydration can make the eyes feel dry, gritty, or easily fatigued, particularly during extended screen use or daily activities.
Evaporative Dry Eye
In this type, tears evaporate too quickly, most often due to Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD). When the oil glands along the eyelids are blocked or underactive, the tear film loses its protective lipid layer, leading to instability and irritation.
Mixed Dry Eye
Some individuals experience a combination of low tear volume and rapid evaporation. This mixed presentation can result in fluctuating comfort and vision, and benefits from a more holistic and personalised management plan.
Our Tailored Approach
At Réspa, every dry eye profile is assessed individually. Your plan is customised based on your specific type, symptom patterns, gland function, and lifestyle factors.
Each step of your care is designed to support daily eye comfort, visual clarity, and long-term ocular wellness — all delivered in a professional, optometrist-led environment.
