Dry eye isn't always about moisture.
A common pattern: blink, drop, and twenty minutes later it's dry again. That usually points somewhere else — the oily layer that stops tears evaporating isn't holding. Adding more water to an unstable tear film doesn't fix it.
Cationorm replenishes water and lipid together, so what goes in stays where it's needed for longer.
The tear film has an oily outer layer produced by the meibomian glands along the lid margin. When those glands block — which happens with age, screen use, makeup, and contact lens wear — the oil thins and tears evaporate faster than the eye can replace them. This is evaporative dry eye, and it's the most common type we assess at the clinic.
Cationorm uses a cationic nanoemulsion: an oil-in-water formulation carrying both phases at once. The milky appearance is normal and expected — it's the oil you're paying for.
That's the emulsion. Oil and water suspended together give the solution a naturally milky appearance — it isn't a fault or contamination. Vision may blur briefly on instillation and clears within a minute.
Apply before inserting lenses or after removing them. If you'd like to use drops while wearing lenses, ask us — the right choice depends on your lens type.
Being preservative-free, it can be used as often as symptoms require. Each vial is single-use — discard after opening rather than saving it for later in the day.
Cationorm restores the lipid layer and suits evaporative dry eye. HYLO GEL is a thicker, longer-lasting lubricant for moderate to severe persistent dryness. They address different problems and are often used together.
